HeatReflect® (AFA) Installation Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare your surface

Wipe off any dust, dirt, or other residue from your surface with a dry cloth. Then, wipe the surface down with alcohol or degreaser to ensure it is clean. The adhesive backing of HeatReflect® (AFA) works best on a clean, DRY surface. This allows the adhesive to maintain an optimal stickiness to endure a long lifespan under harsh conditions.

HeatReflect® (AFA) is very versatile and will stick to virtually any surface, including plastic, metal, painted or un-painted. NOTE: Allow at least 30 days for a newly painted surface to dry, as bubbles may occur if the paint is still outgassing/flashing off. Not recommend for use on brick, non-painted cement, or heavy painted spackled wall board. Results will vary on stucco surfaces.

Step 2 – Measure and precut panel

Start with a template or measure and precut HeatReflect® (AFA) before applying it to your surface. The fiberglass and adhesive can be difficult to cut in tight spaces or with a dull blade. For this reason, we recommend to precut your panel to its final shape as much as possible prior to installation.

Step 3 – Peel adhesive and work from one direction

When installing HeatReflect® (AFA), start at a single edge or corner and peel the adhesive away from the paper release liner. Do not press the adhesive down until the product is in place. The adhesive on the back of HeatReflect® (AFA) is pressure sensitive and single use. It does not allow for repositioning. To avoid wrinkles, ridges, or bubbles in your installation, gently work across the surface from one direction by using your hand or hand roller.
