  • This product provide an easy, one-step installation and provides a lower total installed cost
  • Shrink-N-Shield (4:1) EMI shielding material offers better shielding effectiveness of 65 db from 10MHz to 10GHz
  • Excellent anti abrasive, environmental, chemical, and electrical properties with resistance to most oils and fluids, mild acids, and alkalis

Shrink-N-Shield® (4:1) is an EMI shielding heat-shrink tubing that can be cut to length for versatile application uses. The flame-retardant and self-extinguishing polyolefin sleeve can withstand temperatures up to 275°F (135°C). Additionally, the jacketing has excellent abrasion, chemical, fluid and fungus resistance.

Shrink-N-Shield® (4:1) comes standard with the Z-3250 shielding cloth. However, other EMI-shielding cloths are available upon request.

The Z-3250 shielding cloth is made of a taffeta fabric plated with copper and nickel for excellent corrosion protection. The lightweight, flexible shielding cloth will not flake or deteriorate over time, so you can be confident your components will have long-lasting protection against EMI, RFI, and EMF.

Shrink-N-Shield® (4:1) is offered in diameters from 0.75” to 2” with custom sizes available upon request, and has an operational temperature range of -67°F to 275°F (-55°C to 135°C).

If you require a 2:1 or 3:1 shrink ratio, Zippertubing® offers Shrink-N-Shield (2:1) and Shrink-N-Shield (3:1), and if you have components with diameters as small as 0.015”, Shrink-N-Shield (Nano) is also available for your EMI shielding heat-shrink needs.

If your application is more suited to a wrap-around heat shrink for ease of installation, PRT® (S-3250) and PRT® (S-7200) are the solutions. Both standard products offer EMI shielding and can easily wrap around your wires or cables, rather than having to pull them through. If required, other EMI-shielding fabrics are available for PRT® upon request.

*Class III polyolefin heat-shrink tubing is available upon request.

Q:  What lengths of Shrink-N-Shield
are available?

A:  Shrink-N-Shield is typically provided in the industry standard 4 ft. long “sticks” of tubing.  However, Zippertubing can provide pre-cut pieces of this material if required.

Q:  My harness is longer than 4 feet, can I still use this product?

A:  Sections of Shrink-N-Shield can be spliced together to create a longer EMI shield.  Reference our installation
guide
for instructions on how to do this, or speak with one of our design engineers for recommendations on covering longer cables.

Q:  What do the 2:1, 3:1, 4:1 variations mean?

A:  These shrink ratios refer to how much the material will change in size when heat is applied.  To learn more, please refer to this article: Understanding Shrink Ratios of Heat Shrinkable Tubing

Q:  What diameter of tubing do I need?

A:  Shrink-N-Shield products are identified by their starting diameter, before recovery or shrinking.  It is recommended to choose a size that will result in a diameter equal to, or slightly smaller than, the cable it is covering to achieve a snug fit.  For assistance with sizing, you can also contact one of our design engineers.

Q:  How should I ground or terminate the ends of this tubing?

A:  There are many different ways to terminate and ground Shrink-N-Shield.  The Shrink-N-Shield installation guide outlines the three most common ways to ground the EMI shield including a wrapped drain wire, bonded grounding lead, and connector termination.

Q:  My installed tubing has small wrinkles and ridges in it, is this normal?

A:  Yes.  As the tubing shrinks, the EMI shield material may gather more in certain areas than others.  This is normal and does not affect the shielding performance of the tubing.  If these cosmetic imperfections are an issue we recommend trying a smaller size of tubing.
