  • EMI-shielding fabric is non-magnetic, making this solution ideal for applications with sensitive magnetic instrumentation
  • TPU jacketing is UL-rated for flammability, meeting UL 94, V-0
  • Pressure track closure allows for re-entry to components as needed

Zip-Shield® (TPU) combines a TPU jacketing with a sewn-in EMI-shielding cloth, mesh or foil and pressure track together for an all-white EMI shielding solution. The thermoplastic polyurethane material utilized for both the jacketing and pressure track is UL-rated for flammability with meeting UL 94 V-0, as well as being ozone resistant (Stage 0, “Crack Free” VDE) and microorganism resistant. The TPU is also offers the best abrasion resistance, is halogen free and hypoallergenic, making this material the ideal choice for medical and clean room environments.

The Z-7200 shielding cloth is a nylon rip-stop fabric, plated with copper and a proprietary corrosion and fray-resistant coating. The cloth is nickel free, halogen free, and hypoallergenic, perfect for medical industry applications. The 7200 shielding cloth also has the unique quality of being non-magnetic, making Zip-Shield® (TPU) the perfect solution for applications dealing with sensitive magnetic instrumentation. The 7200 shielding cloth will not flake or rub off overtime. Zip-Shield® (TPU) can also be equipped with a braided and flattened tin-plated copper ground wire.

The EZ-Track™ (TPU) pressure track is an arrowhead and channel interlocking system that provides a secure closure. This pressure track can be closed with the SL-EZ Slider tool for shorter runs, and the ZTEZ-SP Plier tool for longer runs.

Zip-Shield® (TPU) is offered for diameters ranging from 0.5” to 4”, with custom shapes and sizes available upon request. The operational temperature range is -40°F to 257°F (-40°C to 125°C).

*Zip-Shield® (TPU) is not manufactured using a clean room in sterile conditions, but with the right procedures, it could be used in the medical field, including in hospitals, operating rooms, trauma centers, and emergency rooms.

Q:  What is the difference between the track closure styles?

A:  Each interlocking track profile has unique benefits and trade-offs.  To learn about them you can review our Track Comparison.

Q:  How do I close the jacketing?

A:  Some tracks can be closed by hand, but we also offer closure tools to assist with installation.  For more information on closing the specific tracks you can view our helpful videos or installation guides:

Q:  Can I cut the tubing?

A:  Yes.  Standard scissors are suitable for cutting through most Zip-On jackets and tracks.

Q:  What lengths of material are available?

A:  Typical spool lengths for most sizes are 100 feet, but will depend on total order footage.  Custom lengths can be provided, just make sure to ask when ordering or include details on the PO for the lengths required.

Q:  Will the track keep out water and is it water-tight?

A:  Our different track closures are rated between IP54 and IP55. This means they are not water tight but will provide significant protection against moisture and fluid ingress.
Some users will apply tape or a sealant to the track, after closing, to provide additional protection.

Q:  What diameter of jacketing do I need?  Is it recommended to oversize?

A:  We will often suggest oversizing the sleeve diameter by 1/8” to allow for ease of install
when using a closure tool.  If the application requires significant bending or flexing we will suggest even more extra room.  For assistance with sizing you can also contact one of our design engineers.

Q:  What is the minimum bend radius of the tubing?

A:  There is no minimum bend radius for our Zip-On products. The flexible jacketing material allows for extreme amounts of bending and flexing.  The bend radius of the installed tubing is typically dictated by the harness it is covering.
